Williams family, Tyn Coed, Llanddaniel
Photograph of the Williams Family of Tyn Coed, Llanddaniel (taken about 1892)

In the photo are the following people: -

The man on standing on the left was John Henry Williams; he was the eldest of the children, he was a great churchman who used to always read the service in church on a Sunday. The man sitting (with beard) was John Williams (the father of the family).  The young boy standing beside father was Llewelyn Williams (known as Llew); he moved to live in America and came back once to visit Llanddaniel  in about 1950. Llew had siblings in America. The small young girl in the photo was Annie Williams.  The Lady behind Annie was the mother of the household, Jane Williams. The girl standing behind Llew was Elizabeth Williams; she was known as Liza.

Email from Jenny Volker (in USA) to www.Llanddaniel.co.uk: -
“As to my relationship to the photo, John Williams (the father in the photo) is my GGG Uncle.  John's brother William Williams was my GG Grandfather, who died in 1877.  William's widow, Keziah (Ann?) Edwards Williams traveled on board the ship, "City of Richmond" and arrived in New York in 1881. She was accompanied by her children:  Arthur Llewelyn Williams (about 6 years old) and Phoebe Williams (about 4 years old). Keziah became ill and died before she could find her Edwards relatives.  The children were placed in an orphanage.  Later, a Williams relative found out they were there and came to get them.  Phoebe had already been adopted out and no one has heard of her since.  Rumor has it she was an opera singer.
However, Arthur was still at the orphanage and was taken home by Robert Jay Williams.  Robert Jay Williams was his uncle, the brother of John Williams and William Williams.  Robert Jay Williams was a very prominent slate quarry owner in Granville, New York and the surrounding area.  He had multiple quarry sites and was very active in the church.”
